Early Voting Favoring Cruz In Race To Retain U.S. Senate Seat

Early voting in Texas is showing an advantage to incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz.

According to data analyst Derek Ryan of the company Ryan Data & Research, Texas Republican voters outpaced Democrats in the first three days of the state's early voting period in the race between Cruz and his Democratic challenger Colin Allred. Voters with history voting in the Republican Primary have a 387,000 vote advantage over the opposing party.

Ryan also added that 2.4 million Texans with a Republican primary voting history had yet to cast their ballots. The same goes for 2 million with a Democratic primary voting track record. As of Saturday, data from the University of Florida's Election Lab shows that 4,274,266 Texan voters had cast their ballots.

Polls out before early voting began gave Cruz a 1-7 point lead over Allred. Allred raised $30.3 million in the third quarter this year to Cruz's $21 million.
