The emergency hearing for death row inmate Robert Roberson went on for several hours in Austin, but Roberson himself never appeared or testified from prison. Lawmakers and lawyers are still at odds of how that will happen, due to his autism.
Dr. Phil McGraw did testify and said, "I am 100% convinced we are facing a miscarriage of justice here."
State representative Brian Harrison also spoke as part of the Texas House Committee, adding quote, "I want the state of Texas to lead the nation in just about everything. But executing potentially innocent people is not one of them."
Author and lawyer John Grisham also testified, as did one of the juror's, who said she would have voted not guilty, if she had heard all of the evidence that they have now.
Meanwhile, Governor Greg Abbott is not on board, and has asked the Texas Supreme Court to throw out the subpoena, to allow the execution of Roberson to proceed.
