Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw announced his retirement Friday.
McCraw said he will leave the department at the end of the year. He made that announcement while giving a commencement address at a DPS trooper graduation ceremony.
McCraw spent 15 years as the state's top law enforcement officer.
