School choice on the docket for upcoming Texas House Committee meeting

School choice continues to be an important topic for the state of Texas.

The House Committee on Public Education will meet Monday and figure out how to include an education savings account program in the state. ESA programs are already included in multiple other states across the country including nearby Arkansas, Arizona and Mississippi.

Lawmakers will study how these other states implement their programs. They were unable to establish such a program last year.

A poll from the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston shows that nearly two-thirds of Texans back school choice.
