Today Is Deadline Day For CenterPoint To Respond To Governor Abbott

After getting grilled by Texas lawmakers on Monday, today is another key day for CenterPoint executives. Today is the deadline to reply to Governor Abbott's directive to submit a plan, on how they will respond in the future.

Earlier this month, Governor Abbott issued the ultimatum.

"I will give CenterPoint until July the 31st to provide my office with specific actions that they will take to address issues that focus on improving power reliability."

Texas State Senator, Paul Bettencourt, who had a chance to lead Monday's hearing, says hopefully CenterPoint will finally get to the point.

"It's just common sense" Bettencourt told KTRH, "And it was unfortunate that I felt like I had to use a blow torch to get that point across, but I hope the point has been made, and I hope that any revised plan shows that."

KTRH reached out to Governor Abbott's office directly, but they refused to comment.

In the meantime, one thing we have heard definitively from CenterPoint executives. The intend to ask the PUC for a rate increase to recoup their losses from their poor response to Hurricane Beryl.
