Just days after surviving an assassination attempt, former President Donald Trump has won a major victory against lawfare related to his classified documents case.
Judge Aileen Cannon has ruled that the appointment of Jack Smith as special counsel was unconstitutional on Monday morning.
Judge Cannon wrote, "In the end, it seems the Executive's growing comfort in appointing 'regulatory' special counsels in the more recent era has followed an ad hoc pattern with little judicial scrutiny."
