The Green Agenda push from the Biden Administration, and Democrats as a whole, has really caught hold the last few years, as they continue pushing tax breaks and subsidies that benefit an all-green market, especially with vehicles. However, Americans have been very slow to buy into the trend, as electric vehicles are still unreliable, and with recent power outages like in Houston, people are weary of switching to a vehicle reliant on electricity.
Along with Biden's push has come what he dubbed the 'Clean Bus Program,' which allows districts to apply for grants from a $5 billion fund to allow them to buy all-electric school buses. Yes, districts that do not put seat belts on school buses want to spend millions on electric buses. They have, too. Fort Worth ISD is slated to spend $6.1 million from this grant to buy 15 electric buses. The list goes on.
Marc Morano of The Climate Depot says this is all part of the plan, with a splash of election year scheming.
"This is a political ploy using the Inflation Reduction Act, which has pumped billions into these states for some push to these worthless net-zero goals," he says.
The program was part of the massive $454 billion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by Biden in 2021. Texas school districts are set to receive around $26 million in grants, all paid for by John Q. Taxpayer.
But across the country, many districts have already started pulling their EV buses off the road due to unreliability, and safety issues. But that does not seem to matter, as long as the money keeps flowing.
"This is a massive boondoggle of waste, inefficiency, and expenses that will weigh down Texas," he says. "There is little evidence this will be successful given the track record around the country."
Embedded in the Texas money would be $9.7 million for Alief ISD, $6.25 million for Austin ISD, and San Antonio ISD will receive $5.9 million. Combined, they will all purchase 60 EV buses.
As long as Biden is pumping his climate change message too, this effort will not stop.
"He says that climate change is the existential threat to humanity...much more important than some lowly child's education," he says. "They always have this rhetoric, and we laugh at it...but now, they are backing it up with the rule of law, and federal funding."
It is just typical Democrat too to overspend on some all-EV dream instead of just spending money on improving education.
"To hell with your child's education...they are trying to save the planet here," Morano says.
