With the GOP in Milwaukee for the RNC Convention, president Joe Biden is back in Texas today for a speech, and fundraising cash grab in Austin.
"It's because he's losing the support of his base, as well as his major donors" said Cindy Siegel, Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party.
It's the first of 3 stops in 3 days for Biden, who is desperately trying to stay in the race, with his campaign on life support. Plus, last week some of his big donors decided to freeze $90 million in pledges, as long as Biden is still on the ticket.
"It's Austin, and I'm sure he figures that that's a way to probably get some attention with the Texas Democrats" Siegel told KTRH.
Biden is set to deliver remarks at Austin’s Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act.
"He's got an uphill battle" noted Siegel, "He needs to shore up his donors, and make sure that he doesn't lose his delegates."
Ironically, it was Austin Democrat, U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett who was the first to call on Biden to drop out of the race.
