Despite all of their 'friends' on social media, a new study found that teenagers today are not only more likely to be single, they're happier about it.
"The teenagers are very, very happy being on their own and figuring themselves out" said Shannon Thornton, a licensed counselor, "They're getting so comfortable on-line, that they would much rather have a bunch of attention and dopamine hits from likes, than actually working on in real life relationships with people."
And it's not only selfies, today's teens also struggle with selfishness.
"They want more for themselves, they're more selfish on getting what they want" Thornton told KTRH, "And because of technology, we've got that instant gratification thing, so they just take care of themselves and get what they want now."
Until they eventually want a relationship. "I would not want to be a teenager right now, that's for sure" noted Thornton.
