Escaped Texas inmate shot in arm, taken back into custody

The inmate who escaped from a prison in Brazoria County has been shot and taken back into custody.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice confirmed that Kidanny Robles, 33, had escaped from the Clemens Unit trusty camp in Angleton during a routine count Sunday morning.

TDCJ said Robles was located within 12 hours of him being reported missing. Robles was shot in arm after refusing orders to stop. He will be taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to the department, Robles was serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated robbery, robbery and burglary of a habitat. That is on top of a 180-day sentence for possession of a controlled substance.

This was also the third time an inmate had escaped from Brazoria County in the last eight months.
