Houston City Controller Approves HFD Pay Agreement

For the first time in nearly ten years, Houston firefighters now have a new collective bargaining agreement with the city of Houston. City Controller Chris Hollins sent a memo approving the new deal to the Houston City Council late Monday night.

The memo reads in part: “Following a comprehensive review and evaluation of the responses to each question my office posed to the Mayor and his team regarding the proposed firefighter settlement and collective bargaining agreement, my office has approved the relevant items for your consideration on the Council Agenda.”

On Tuesday morning, a spokesperson for the Mayor’s office confirmed that the deal had been certified but said the deal isn’t technically official until the city council votes to approve it.
