Biden's border order falling flat as crossings rise

For months, all President Biden told the public was that he 'cannot do anything more' at the southern border. He blamed Republicans for taking no action, he blamed Mexico for not doing enough, all in a way to deflect from his own shortcomings. This Administration's carelessness at the border has now created an immigration crisis like we have never before seen. It started on day one with Biden repealing all of Donald Trump's policies and has spiraled into oblivion since.

Now after saying he cannot do anything; Biden just last week implemented a new executive order at the border. Essentially, it implements some of the same language from the Senate's twice-failed border bill, capping asylum requests at 2,500 a day at ports of entry. But as we know, many do not ever enter through a port of entry, leaving the door wide open in other areas. Not to mention, it does not limit the requests under Biden's illegal CBP One app, which has just exacerbated the problem.

It was hailed by liberals and media as a great thing, and some kind of monumental action. Here we sit one week into it, and things are just getting worse. Caravans of hundreds of immigrants from Turkey, China and Egypt have been seen recently streaming across with no deterrence just this weel. Spoiler alert: they were all single young men, not families, who did not claim asylum.

Breitbart's Bob Price says this whole thing was nothing more than election year window dressing to fool the public

"If you can cap it at 2,500, you can cap it at 500...2,500 a day is 1.2 million a year...a level which the Biden administration has rarely been under," he says.

It is after all the federal government's responsibility to protect the border. But Biden has hurt it at every turn, leaving it up to states like Texas to deal with it. Even then, Biden has fought tooth and nail to stop Texas from protecting itself. Just this year, Texas implemented Senate Bill 4, which would give local law enforcement ability to deport anyone they suspect is an illegal immigrant.

Days before it was set to take effect, the Biden administration sued to block it, claiming it is 'up to the federal government to enforce border laws.' Laws which, they do not enforce at all. That SB4 law and its constitutionality now rests with the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.

On the surface, it might seem like the bumbling Biden has not grasped the severity of the crisis he's created. But he has gotten lessons on this from his time as vice president.

"Then DHS secretary Jay Johnson said 1,000 per day overwhelmed border patrol and was a crisis...but Biden somehow thinks two and a half times that amount is okay," says Price.

April of 2024 alone saw 247,000 immigrant encounters for border patrol. Under Trump, it had gotten as low as 2,000 in a single month.

The real kicker with the Biden order though is that it focuses primarily on immigrants from Mexico. It fails to take into account the literally hundreds of other countries from which they are arriving.

"The vast majority are coming from Venezuela, China, the Middle East, Eastern Europe...all people from countries with ties to terrorism...they will not be returned," he says.

In the end, Price adds that new Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum will only make the problem worse, and that Mexico only helped a bit due to it being an election year there.
