CenterPoint says that over 140,000 customers remain in the dark, four days after last week's storm that knocked out power for over 900,000 households.
A statement from CenterPoint on its website says:
"CenterPoint Energy is working to have restorations substantially complete to customers who are available to receive service by end of day Wednesday. Hardest hit areas of our territory include: Bellaire, Cypress, Baytown, Greenspoint, Humble and Spring Branch. As more details are available, CenterPoint will provide localized restoration updates. Nearly 7,000 workers are deployed across all impacted areas of our service territory and estimated times for restoration are based on the extent of significant damage in those areas.
Customers without power are encouraged to have an emergency plan in place, especially those customers who depend on electricity for life-sustaining equipment."
The power operator hopes to have 90% of those affected online by this evening, with everyone's power restored by the end of the day tomorrow.
