UT professor arrested, fired after participating in pro-Palestinian protest

Texas DPS has arrested a now-former University of Texas at Austin professor, after he participated in pro-Palestinian protests on the campus and confronting police. The arrest came this week for his actions in the April 29th protests, which resulted in over five dozen arrests.

Richard Heyman is accused of grabbing a state trooper bike, then yelling expletives at them. He had been employee by UT for almost 18 years and was fired one day after his arrest.

The probable cause statement says he yelled "**** you, you do not belong here," to DPS as the group marched through campus. His attorney claims that is his right, and he only grabbed the bike to avoid falling after troopers pushed him.

He is charged with interfering with public duties.
