The Harris County Criminal Courts are reportedly making strides in clearing up a backlog of cases from the past several years.
In just over two-years, the 16 courts have cleared more than 126-thousand cases, averaging nearly 7,00 cases each.
As a result, the backlog has shrunk by 65%.
Courts now usually clear more cases per month than they receive, for a clearance rate of more than 100-percent.
Delays in cases have been caused by everything from slow evidence gathering to disasters like the pandemic and post-Harvey cleanup.
