Is American Work Ethic Dying?

Employers have been struggling since COVID-19 to get their teams back into the office, and now California is proposing a new law to restrict when employers can contact their employees. It's being called the "Right to Disconnect" act, largely an attempt to further shield remote workers.

In addition to being a poorly defined piece of legislation, imposing fines for violating the right to disconnect, some Americans are worried about this contributing to the decline of the American work ethic.

Author and businessman Mike Rowe spoke to Fox Business on the subject of work ethic. He said, "Work ethic in this country is truly on the ropes. There are over 7 million able-bodied men affirmatively not looking for work right now."

Rowe says that's an unprecedented number, especially considering that this is not in the midst of wartime. He also says that one of the reasons for that is that we have devalued work and turned it into the enemy.
