The Texas primaries proved that school choice was a winning issue for Gov. Abbott and his endorsed candidates. He now says that he is just two seats away from the majority he needs to pass school choice in Texas. He's likely to gain those two seats after the runoff races are over.
Corey DeAngelis with the American Federation for Children says the pro-school choice candidates that they endorsed are leading in their runoff races. He also says that Abbott's candidates might not even need to win those last two seats to get school choice.
DeAngelis told KTRH, "Sometimes if you take out a few of the incumbents, some of the others will come along as well." He thinks this primary season did a good enough job showing representatives that Texans want school choice, and he thinks it's sure to pass in the upcoming 2025 legislative session.
