Two Term Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg will not get a chance for a third term in office.

On Super Tuesday was defeated in her primary by former employee Democrat Sean Teare, with the race not being particularly close. At last check, Teare had opened up a 78-22 margin. Ogg also gave a concession speech to supporters on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere locally, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee managed to stave off her toughest primary opponent in years. She defeated City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards on Tuesday. She will now face off against either Republican Lana Centonze or Aron Hermes, with their race still too close to call.

In the race for Harris County GOP Chair, Cindy Siegel easily defeated businessman Bobby Orr by more than 20 points.

In the state level, Texas Senator Ted Cruz cruising to a primary win tonight, defeating both his Republican challengers with close to 90 percent of the vote. But the big question all along was who Cruz's opponent in November will be. That will be former football player Colin Allred, who won his democratic primary tonight, defeating main challenger Roland Gutierrez with close to 60 percent of the vote.

In the Texas House, Speaker Dade Phelan, the driving force behind the failed impeachment of Attorney General Ken Paxton, will be forced into a runoff by Donald Trump-backed David Covey. Meantime, five of the pro-school choice candidates endorsed by Governor Greg Abbott won their races. Another three are in runoffs. Two of those candidates lost.
