Lubbock Group Moves Forward With Marijuana Ballot Question Despite Law

Even though recreational use of marijuana is still illegal in the state of Texas, Lubbock is the latest city that is trying to put pot on the ballot. A left leaning group wants voters to be able to have their say, in May.

"This has happened across the state" said Texas State Representative, Dustin Burrows, "It's a concerted effort, I think that a lot of it has been funded by George Soros trying to get these issues on the ballot, trying to get new voters that have more leftist Democrat leanings."

Basically, this all began back in 2008 under Barack Obama. The leftist groups came out in force to impose their radical agenda. But since only so much could be done on the federal level (Obama-care not included) the left's plan was to change Texas at the city and county levels.

"Cities are not meant to have their own penal code, and decide what they enforce and don't enforce" Rep. Burrows told KTRH, "Our mayor and our city council voted against this. This is a group that have decided that they're going to force this on the ballot to try and amend the charter."

It was State Rep. Burrows who authored the 'death star bill' in the Texas legislature. That bill was passed, but the left has been blocking it's implementation in court. The bill is basically a pre-emptive measure to stop left leaning cities from going rogue, and defying the Texas constitution. A final resolution will likely be done in the Texas Supreme Court.

In the meantime, 5 other cities in Texas have tried to put marijuana on the ballot, which has lad to lawsuits from AG Ken Paxton.
