Biden's inflation woes now hampering national security efforts

As if Biden's economic blunders could not get any worse, inflation is now playing a role in hurting our national security both abroad, and here at home. Supply chain issues have helped run prices higher than ever. It has now led to defense contractors, such as Northrop Grumman, turning down government contracts because they do not want to foot the bill when the cost runs higher than the agreed price.

Combine the inflation at home, with Biden's irrational decision to send every weapon we have to Ukraine, and you have a ticking time bomb. That has brought us to a crucial point, where we need more supplies, with less desire to do the job.

National Security Analyst Ed Turzanski says the United States is in a tough place.

"We need the defense contractors...we have to be careful though not to just write a blank check, but at the same time...there is no substitute for what they do, and our adversaries are spending more than we are," he says.

North Korea, China, Russia, and Iran combined are spending more money than ever on their defense spending. This has greatly compressed the lead the U.S. once had in defense technology.

In a perfect world, the US would just utilize stockpiles, but those have since been depleted by the aforementioned Biden decision to send all we have to Ukraine.

"We need to replenish our stocks...we have sophisticated weaponry that needs to be put in place...all that has a research and development cost, and a production and deployment cost," he says.

But inflation alone has not been the absolute cause. The government has shot themselves int he foot too by cutting back on defense spending, and pumping money recklessly into other ventures and ideas.

"We have spent inordinate amount on things like COVID relief...which had massive fraud...every dollar you spend there you cannot spend for a good purpose," he says. "We have put ourselves in a very bad position."

If that is not enough to get the alarm bells ringing, then there is more to consider. The biggest threat to national security right now, according to Turzanski, is already in our own backyard.

"There are large numbers of undocumented people, who are men of fighting age, that are pouring across the border, and are intent on doing harm in a variety of ways," he says.

All of these are things Biden could fix simply. Yet, he will not, and the further we will sink into danger.
