Ghost Jobs: Who You Gonna Call?

Contributing to the stress job seekers suffer while trying to find employment is the impact of ghost jobs.

Executive Job Recruiter Casey Hasten says the practice is generally not nefarious. Ghosting is a term used to describe posting a job for a position that isn’t open.

Hasten says those responsible for keeping businesses staffed will often proactively fill their files to keep options open in the event circumstances change.

Hasten says recruiters will generally respond quickly to get a job posted to attract applicants but may not feel the need to take the post down when the position is filled as quickly.
