Governor Abbott has the written support of 25 of the other 26 Republican governors in his battle with the Biden administration.
The Republican Governors Association released a statement saying that Abbott and the state of Texas have a "constitutional right to self-defense."
The statement also says the Biden administration has left the U.S. "completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border."
Among those who signed off on the statement were Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, as well as former presidential candidates Ron DeSantis of Florida and Doug Burgum of North Dakota.
The lone Republican governor who did not sign off on the statement was Phil Scott of Vermont.
