Calls grow for Texas to declare invasion and take border into own hands

The ever-worsening border crisis continues getting worse day-by-day under the Biden Administration. A record number of crossings occurred in December alone, and over three million illegals have crossed into the United States since Biden took office in 2021. Three years, three million illegals. If that is not a crisis, not sure what qualifies as one.

Texas has bore the brunt of the problem, with towns like Eagle Pass being inundated with people from not just Mexico, but Central America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Some who have crossed are even on the terror watch list. All this combined has led to growing calls for Texas to declare an invasion and shut the border down itself.

Former state Senator Don Huffines, who published a report calling for the declaration of invasion, says it is well within Texas' rights to do so.

"Under the Constitution...it gives states authority to do that. If they are invaded and the federal government is the cause or does not come to their aid to stop it...states have authority to enter a treaty with a foreign nation...raise an army...do whatever they need to do to repel the invasion," he says.

The report from the Huffines Liberty Foundation also recommends that Texas’ congressional representatives push for returning to states the power to make a violation of federal immigration law a state crime. Texas has done so recently in the Legislature, which has been ultimately fought by the Government.

While Governor Greg Abbott has made efforts to curb immigration, he could put the hammer down, and declare invasion. But he won't.

"I think he is really scared of the consequences of a federal court ruling against him, and that he would not win the case," says Huffines. "So...what he wants to do is incrementally approach securing the border, which has been a disaster."

While things like the razor wire have had some desired effect, Texas has spent billions on Abbott's border efforts, and the surge continues pouring out of control.

But Abbott's approach, according to Huffines, shows a lack of courage and innovation.

"It does not work...there is no boldness. We lose public support when we are worried about the federal courts...we need our Congressional leaders to stand tall," he says. "The wall does not work...the stupid floating barriers do not work."

Whether or not you believe Biden has allowed immigration to flow like this on purpose is a debate for another time. But there is no question he has done virtually nothing to impede the surges.

That is for a reason.

"The Left did this to Western Europe to destroy culture, and they are doing it here...when Texas goes blue...they will never lose the Presidency. It would be very hard for a Republican to win the Presidency without Texas," he says. "The Left effectively wins the free world...that is what they are trying to do."

Huffines concludes that both Congress and Governor Abbott need to show some form of courage to deliver this blow and save America.
