Poll: Texas Ranks Among The Highest In Economic Freedom

In another shot taken at the great state of Texas, a new left leaning poll has Texas ranked near the top in economic freedom, but dead last when it comes to 'personal' freedoms.

The poll was conducted by the Cato Institute, and their freedom index. Reporter Cameron Abrams wrote about it in The Texan.

"Cato, being a libertarian institution, you're obviously going to see more socially liberal policies that they are going to be encouraging" Abrams said, "And Texas, being a more Republican led state, you're going to see more pushback."

Some of the 'personal' freedoms that survey took exception with include, gambling, cannabis, and even education. On the flip side, Texas was near the top when it comes to economic freedom.

"In terms of economic freedoms, you see a lot of that here in the state, it's been booming over the last few years" Abrams told KTRH, "According to Cato and many other analysis, the economic viability of the state is near the top."

When you mix the two together, Texas ended up at #17 - in overall freedom.
