Gen Z Least Likely to Save

A survey by Bankrate.com of who is spending and what their age group finds Gen Z the generation least likely to be stocking funds away for retirement.

73% aren't saving anything.

KTRH moneyman Pat Shinn says it's a reflection of the age, chuckling that his purchase concerns at that age revolved around records and tape recorders, and desired items were most likely placed on a lay-away spending program rather than bought with a credit card or put on lay away.

Even those older and wiser aren't ready to face the future.

A survey by personal finance company Achieve finds only 60 percent of respondents said they have a savings account in a bank: 58% of Gen Zers, 61% of millennials, 57% of Gen Xers and 62% of Boomers  Among those with savings, more than one-third said the account holds less than $1,000.
