Six people are dead and two hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in downtown Houston before dawn on Saturday.
One of those killed was former UH football star and veteran NFL defensive back DJ Hayden.
Two other former UH players were among the other victims; Zach McMillan and Ralph Oragwu.
Police responded to the crash at around 2 in the 2000 block of Fannin Street near Pierce Street.
The roadway has been closed for an investigation.
Police say a speeding black Chrysler 300 sedan ran a red light and crashed with an eastbound Acura SUV on Pierce.
