The temperatures are heating up, and so is violent crime in Houston.
The mayhem started on Friday night into Saturday morning. The city saw at least seven shootings, killing three and wounding six others.
It continues Saturday night into Sunday morning, after the city and county held a gun buyback event at NRG. Six people were wounded, one critically, in a shooting outside a club near the Galleria area. No arrests have been made as of yet.
There were another two shootings on Sunday; both of them were deadly. And an off duty HPD officer was involved in a shooting early Monday morning, in which a woman was wounded in the face. All told, Houston Police Officers Union President Doug Griffith says there were 13 shootings, with 19 victims.
"I'm afraid it's going to be a long hot summer. And I'm afraid we are going to be in for a lot more shootings," Griffith said.
There was also a shooting in Crosby on Sunday that killed one and wounded two other people.
