The full Texas Senate is expected to debate a proposed budget this week that the Senate Finance Committee approved last Wednesday.
The $308,000,000,000 dollar spending plan for the next two-years includes billions for property tax cuts, community colleges, school safety, border security, and pay raises for teachers and state employees.
Tow issues also important to Texas residents, water and electricity are being addressed. It funds water projects and measures to ensure the stability of the electric grid.
And there will be money left over.
Neither the Senate nor House budget proposals spends the state's entire $33-billion-dollar surplus.
