In the aftermath of the latest tragic school shooting in Nashville, more parents are once again turning to homeschooling, over safety concerns.
"1.2 million students left public schools over the last couple of years" said Tim Lambert, president of the Texas Home School Coalition, "It is not a surprise that every time we see one of these horrific situations happen, that parents have a choice, and many of them choose homeschooling. We see the levels of homeschooling rising all across the state."
Parents are also concerned with their kids are being taught in government schools. Something that the Texas legislature is addressing right now during the current legislative session.
According to the Texas Home School Coalition, there is currently an estimated 750,000 kids that are homeschooled in the state of Texas. And if you are considering it?
"A lot of parents have concerns about doing this" Lambert told KTRH, "Can I really prepare my kids for college? I just say that the studies show that home schoolers score 15-30 points above the national average over their classroom counterparts, and so parents you can do this."
