Astros Keep The Game One Losing Tradition Alive

History does not repeat, it rhymes, say some sophists. In Houston, at Minute Maid, no two ways about it, history rhymes.

Boos goes with lose for Game One of the Fall Classic.

J.T. Realmuto smacked a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 10th inning as the Phils edged the Astros 6-5 in Houston. Realmuto also had a game-tying, two-run double in the fifth inning as Philadelphia erased an early 5-0 deficit and hopes of a happy night for Justin Verlander.

"Yeah, they got some traffic on the bases, and managed to have some really good at bats and put the ball in play," Verlander said in the post-game interview. "I felt in needed to execute better."

Manager Dusty Baker was of the same mind apparently.

"He made some mistakes with his breaking ball," Baker says. "Almost every pitch they hit was a breaking ball. He couldn't get the breaking ball down. That's what changed. Sometime you change your game plan. You can't keep throwing the same way to the same guys all the time."

Kyle Tucker homered in the second and third innings while driving in four runs for the Astros in defeat.

The Phillies take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. The Astros have played eight World Series games at home in the past four seasons, and only won one of them
