Houston Crime Stoppers is hitting back after yet another hit piece in the mainstream media this week, as the local newspaper reported that the watchdog group was stalling an audit into their finances.
The group's Chairman, Justin Vickery, told Houston's Morning News that the latest piece doesn't make sense.
"The auditor's office stated multiple times that they were an impartial party to the audit process. If so why are they granting interviews regarding our audit, let along for an article that we were asked one hour before it was published whether we had a comment," Vickery said.
The chairman added that this only started when Crime Stoppers called attention to the bond reform problems plaguing Harris County.
"This didn't start until we got vocal. It's very disappointing," he stated.
