Families for Exchange Students Needed

AFS Intercultural Programs/USA (formerly the American Field Service) is looking for host families in the Houston for international high school exchange students arriving this fall for 12 weeks or up to a year.

More than a thousand families a year step up to open their homes and welcome a student, most often gaining more than they give.

The students represent nearly 40 countries, including Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Denmark, Germany and more.

All types of individuals and families are encouraged to consider providing a nice safe bed, meals, support and encouragement. Host families aren't paid: they're volunteers, often from multi-cultural backgrounds or willing to share a taste of America to a young person eager for experience and learning. Families have the full support of local AFS-USA staff.

If you're interested in becoming a Host Family for an AFS exchange student, or have a student interested in studying abroad, contact the organization at 1-800-AFS-INFO, or you can contact Metro Houston area coordinator Sara Roberts by email at sroberts@afusa.org.
