Uvalde Strong Day at Minute Maid Park.

The Sunday August 14th Houston Astros vs. Oakland A’s game was Uvalde Strong Day at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros gave out 3,500 total tickets to today’s game to the Uvalde, Texas, community.
The Astros also chartered 10 buses to bring approximately 500 members of the community directly impacted by the incredible tragedy at Robb Elementary for an all-inclusive Gameday experience. They got to hear from and participate in a pregame Q&A with Jose Altuve, Lance McCullers Jr., Alex Bregman and Manager Dusty Baker. That group was also given the opportunity to walk around the field on the warning track, taking in the ballpark, taking photos and mingling/getting autographs of players.

Pictured here, after she (beautifully) threw out the ceremonial first pitch, is Faith Mata, the sister of shooting victim Tess Mata.

The Astros will pay for the maintenance and upkeep of the little league fields, along with paying for the little league’s uniforms as is done for so many little leagues in the greater Houston area.

To make it a total success - The Astros beat the A's 6-3. Winning the game and 3-game series.
