With just over three months to go until the November midterm elections, CPAC is back in Texas this weekend, with Donald Trump the headline speaker.
"People will be here for 3 or 4 days, and this gets people really revved up" said political commentator Jeffrey Lord, who is also slated to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas, "They get to see in this case Donald Trump, and all of these different speakers, Sean Hannity, it's very important in that role, particularly a handful of months before the election."
This will be Trump's first public appearance in Texas since May, with all eyes and ears wondering if and when, he's going to announce his plans for 2024.
"What does this mean for 2022? What does it mean for 2024?" Lord told KTRH, "I think in the latter case it means that he's going to run, I don't think there's any doubt about that. This is at the moment, just as it was once the party of Reagan, this is the party of Trump."
Jeffrey Lord would know, having worked for President Reagan, while watching the growth of CPAC, which is now a political highlight.
"I should say, by way of personal history that I went to the very first CPAC which I think was in 1975? The featured speaker was someone named former California governor Ronald Reagan" noted Lord, "And all I can is we have come one very, very long way from that."
With still a long way to go until 2024.
