Video showing a cat in a fight for its life with a coyote is widely making the rounds on social media.
Tony Gray's security camera caught the attack as it unfolded on his porch in Surfside Beach.
As the cat frantically tried to evade or escape, it endured a few close calls with wild animal's jaws. Eventually, the feline escaped to safety up a porch post. Gray, who saw the incident unfold as it occurred, said he banged on the porch door to scare the coyote away. It's unclear if the cat belongs to someone or where it went after the encounter..
Surfside Beach police say the community has a coyote problem and they are working with Texas Parks and Wildlife to find a solution.
Wildlife officials say urban coyotes run in packs and seek out food when darkness falls. They also say coyotes are not known to approach humans, and attacks on pets are very rare.
