Migrant crossings along southern border set new record

U.S. Border agents encountered nearly 235,000 migrants at the southern border in April, according to a Monday court filing. That would be the greatest number in the history of the Department of Homeland Security.

The numbers show 117,989 migrants were released into the U.S. last month and 113,248 were deported - 98,908 through Title 42, the health order slated to expire on Monday.

Border officials expect an influx of migrants if the order is allowed to end.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Del Rio Sector reportedly saw 1,288 illegal crossings within a recent 24-hour period.
