Where Americans Find Meaning In Life Has Changed Over The Past Four Years

As we get set to celebrate Thanksgiving here in 2021, a new survey shows that there has been a shift over the last 4 years, as to where Americans find meaning in life.

"I figured that we would have a lot of changes in what was important to us, because we've had so many changes in the country" said Texas based family therapist Shannon Thornton.

The study, conducted by the Pew Research Center shows that while the majority of Democrats view society as their priority, Republicans now place freedom and independence at the top of the list.

"That is something since the beginning, because our country was founded on that, it's the biggie" Thornton told KTRH, "We've always had that, and it's been now taken for granted, and we're realizing that, and that is not ok with America."

The poll also shows that money, career, travel, and even marriage were all down on the list, and maybe that's a good thing.

"All the things of this world that people show on the outside that make them think that they're successful, the 'keeping up with the jones', maybe people are finally realizing that when it all comes down to it, none of that really matters in the big scheme" Thornton said, "There are other things that are more important to find meaning in."

For millions of Americans, that meaning would include faith, which was surprisingly not on the list at all.
