Texas State Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing 6 Texas Independent School Districts. Why? They are not observing Governor Abbott's ban on local face mask orders.
Paper work was filed yesterday (9-10-2021). These are the school districts: Galveston, Spring, Elgin, Richardson, and Round Rock. All of those districts are requiring students, teachers, other school staff and even visitors to put on face coverings while they are on school property. Paxton says this is "unlawful political maneuvering." Paxton's statement:
“If districts choose to spend their money on legal fees, they must do so knowing that my office is ready and willing to litigate these cases. I have full confidence that the courts will side with the law – not acts of political defiance.”
