The growing investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic has yet to definitively show exactly where and how the virus came to be, but it has exposed the corrupt alliance between big media and tech platforms and the Chinese government. Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow has documented this disturbing phenomenon in his new book Breaking The News: Exposing the Establishment Media's Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption. "The media establishment and the tech establishment both discouraged inquiry and discouraged debate with regard to the origins of the biggest pandemic to afflict the world in 100 years," he tells KTRH. "That is alarming."
Indeed, traditional media outlets and tech platforms like Facebook and Twitter spent most of the past year parroting the Chinese narrative that the coronavirus came from an animal in a wet market, while these platforms censored and attacked any other explanations as conspiracy theories. Only recently have these outlets acknowledged the long-suspected belief that the virus may have escaped from a Chinese lab. "They have been doing the work of the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing," says Marlow. "When you censor accurate information that could be detrimental to the Chinese Communist Party, that is effectually what you are doing."
In his research, Marlow points to the deep financial ties between corporate media and China, noting ABC's parent company Disney and NBC's parent company Universal both have major business interests there. Then there are the billionaire tech titans a.k.a. "The Masters of the Universe" as he calls them. "These are oligarchs who either are already deeply tied to China, or would like to be tied to China one day," says Marlow. "And they don't want to rub the Chinese the wrong way."
"The question is whether or not we're going to hold China accountable," he continues. "Well I'll tell you who's not going to hold China accountable...people who are already doing or would like to be doing billions of dollars in business with them."
