Austin police officers Chandler Carrera and Eddie Pineda went viral with bodycam video after saving a man Monday from a burning pickup truck just before it exploded.
The pair arrived on the scene before firefighters and jumped into action, breaking a window to open the truck’s door and dragging the man out.
The victim was reportedly taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officials said he experienced a medical emergency that contributed to the fire.
Pineda and Carrera received a "coin of recognition" for their heroic actions from Assistant Police Chief Robin Henderson.
