Lawmakers Push For Public School Students To Study American Founding Docs

So what exactly is being taught in our public schools?

With the 'woke' radical left agenda seeping in at every turn, a group of Texas lawmakers want to make sure it will mandatory for students to study our founding documents.

A new study shows that 37% of Texans could not pass a U.S. citizenship test, while 90% of immigrants would!

State Representative Greg Bonnen, along with State Senator Larry Taylor has written a pair of bills labeled as 'Informed Patriotism' legislation. And both bills just made it out of committee.

Holly Hansen, who reported on the story for The Texan told KTRH, "There's not a lot of objection to this legislation. With a better understanding of these documents, we'll have a better informed citizenry, and young people who will understand why our country was constructed the way that it is."

Those documents that would be required under law to be studied here in Texas include the U.S. constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, and the first Lincoln-Douglas debate.

"Once I published the story, the question a lot of people posed was, were we not teaching this already?" Hansen said. "Currently, it is not mandated in the Texas standards for public education."

Thomas Lindsay of the Texas Public Policy Foundation testified in favor of the bills, calling the situation a crisis.

As President Ronald Reagan once said, "If we forget what we did, we won't know who we are."
