A hurricane researcher at Colorado State University says the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season is going to be another busy one.
Phil Klotzbach issued the preliminary forecast on Thursday.
Klotzbach says we can expect 17 named storms, eight hurricanes, and four major hurricanes of Category Three or above to develop this year. T
he busiest-ever hurricane season was in 2020, when there were 30 named storms, including 13 hurricanes and six major hurricanes.
Klotzbach bases his forecast on factors including Atlantic Ocean temps and the El Niño cycle.
