One of the big take-aways from Donald Trump's speech over the weekend at CPAC? The former President is -not- going to leave the GOP to start his own party! Trump had a laugh about it calling it "fake news." But in reality, it's actually not a bad idea. According to a new Gallup poll, 62% believe that both Republicans, and Democrats, have done a poor job representing the people, and that a new 3rd political party is needed. Elizabeth Ames, a Fox News contributor told KTRH the '3rd party' idea is nothing new. In fact the idea was comparable, as recently as 2017. "The media likes the discussion of what's new" Ames said, "but at the end of the day the public likes to do what they're accustomed to doing", which is vote Republican or Democrat. With that said, if someone were to attempt to get a 3rd party off the ground, Ames says Trump would be the guy. "A charismatic leader is the one who makes it more likely to get a 3rd party, Trump increases those chances dramatically." But as for Trump actually doing it? Ames says the system is set up for really two parties because of the electoral college. "I don't think he would do it. If he really wants to see the democrats put out to pasture in the next election, that's not the way to do it." And, it would be 'fake news'.
