President Biden is declaring a major disaster for winter storm-ravaged Texas. The move clears the way for immediate federal assistance in the form of grants for temporary housing, home repairs, loans to cover property losses and more help for residents and business owners. Other funding is available for state and local governments as well as non-profits to pay for protective and preventative measures. Governor Greg Abbott requested the order on Thursday, which will expand on the emergency declaration already signed on February 14th. FEMA has already supplied the state with generators, blankets, meals and hundreds of thousands of liters of water.
