Cornyn Opposes Precedent Set By Trump Impeachment

Tomorrow the US House will deliver and article of impeachment to the U.S. Senate on Monday, triggering the beginning of a trial in the Senate at 1pm EST with procedural matters the first issues to be determined.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn is against convicting former President Donald Trump in his impeachment trial.

Cornyn says it will set a bad precedent which could be used against other future, former presidents.

He also quoted former Trump impeachment lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who suggested it would make it harder for the U.S. to heal if Trump were convicted.

Cornyn says the Senate will stop all other matters, including approval of President Biden's Cabinet nominees, if Democrats go through with the impeachment.
