Baylor College of Medicine is an active part of developing a Covid-19 vaccine. U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams was visiting Baylor yesterday and said, "There are many reasons to be optimistic including four vaccines now in Phase 3 Trials and we're almost at the Finish Line of having a vaccine available. Baylor is doing a lot of work in that space to make sure we have a vaccine that is safe and effective."
Dr. Adams also says it's more important than ever to stay healthy. "We already have a vaccine that can save thousands of lives. It the Flu vaccine. One of the smartest things you can do this year is get your own flu vaccine and then make sure your employees get their flu vaccines." And you will save healthcare resources for the care of patients with Covid-19.
The Race is on to Find a Covid Vaccine
Dr. Adams continues to say this is only the beginning of the fight against Covid-19. "Getting a vaccine is just Step 1. This is going to be logistically the hardest vaccine distribution that we have ever experienced in history. " Dr. Adams reports that an initial distribution plan was just released from Health and Human Services and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.
