After dumping rain on Houston for a few days, the remnants of Beta are moving out.
Beta will be moving on out by early this afternoon. The rain last night mainly concentrated in Montgomery and Liberty Counties. Josh Lichter at the National Weather Service says that gave areas like Pearland a break.
"Another couple of inches would not have helped at all if they had fallen in those areas that had gotten 8 to 10 inches the night before," Lichter said.
It gave a break to areas like Pearland, where residents were frustrated at the repeated flooding problems.
"We've went to city club meetings. We've gone to city council members. It seems like there's nothing being done about the situation," a resident told our TV partner Channel 2.
There were dozens of high water rescues were done across the Houston area because of the flooding.
If you get your water from the city of Houston, you don't need to boil it even though more than 100-thousand gallons of wastewater were spilled in five locations of the rain. You can check out the map below.
There is still high water out there. We have a list at HERE.
There are school closures including Texas City and Dayton ISD's. HISD is virtual only, with facilities closed today. A complete list of closures is HERE.
