A local faith leader and beloved member of the Houston Jewish community, Rabbi Samuel Karff has died. He served as Rabbi Emeritus of the Congregation Beth Israel and was integral part of the Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. The synagogue's Senior Rabbi David A. Lyon has this to say about Rabbi Karff.
“When a jewel is lost --- it remains a jewel forever. We might not see him or hear him again like we did a. But we will always know that that jewel is a shining part of all that we have become."
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s statement says Karff was a part of “The Three Amigos” with Pastor Bill Lawson and Archbishop Joseph Fiorenza. The family is currently planning funeral services.
