Baseball returns for summer

The Sugar Land Skeeters were to hold a four team minor league tournament this weekend, but it's been pushed back a week to the 10th. Legendary Astro Roger Clemens and his son will co-manage one of the teams.

Skeeters play-by-play man Ryan Posner says, legally, they could have 50% attendance at 8,000 seat Constellation Field.

"We're only gonna have just a little over 30%, we'll have around 1,700 seats available, so everything's gonna be social distanced -- that's our priority rather than having the full 50% available like we could."

Posner says players are champing at the bit.

"These guys seem ready to go, they're excited to play, they've been waiting to play since April, so yeah, they're ready to go."

The other three teams have yet to be confirmed for the tournament which now begins July 10th.

Posner says minor league ball offers a unique opportunity for fans.

"You have guys who've been in the Majors before ranging all the way down to guys who maybe have just played independent baseball so I think that's a pretty unique situation you probably don't get to ever see anywhere. You have a guy who spent ten years in the Majors facing off against a kid who just got drafted last year."

Ticket information is at the Skeeters web site, SugarLandSkeeters.com.
