Another Harris County Sheriff's Deputy has succumbed to Covid-19. Seventy year old Deputy Sheriff Juan Menchaca passed away this morning leaving behind a wife and seven children. As an escort was readying to transport his body from the hospital, his wife Melissa said a few words about the man she knew. "He was very serious at work - but when he came home he showed a silly side that the girls, his family and I only saw."
A spokesman for the Sheriff's Department told our TV partner channel 2 what his death means to the department. "To lose another one of our brothers is just heartbreaking for our whole family. Every day our folks are showing up for work know that they are doing so during an pandemic. They are putting themselves in further jeopardy. Funeral plans are pending.
